Since arriving in New Orleans, I have worked to capture and intrigue the local art community with my eclectic work. I gather much of my inspiration from the colorful characters that I see everyday in my local environment. The city of New Orleans inspires me and has provided the backdrop for much of my work. This unique city is like no other place in the USA with its cultural diversity, history, architecture, music, and iconic festivals.
My "funky" style of art is unsophisticated and crude, providing a sense of freedom from ordinary life. My style emphasizes bold colors as well as a fun and vibrant vibe in which I try to find humor in the subjects that often have a serious undertone. Being able to laugh, even at ourselves, eases life's burdens. My art represents my appreciation for all people and their unique characteristics and contributions to society, making the world an interesting place to live.
I took classes at The Blue Easel Club in New Orleans, and the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art. I also studied under mural artist Pedro Vidal in Villahermosa, Mexico. I currently live in the Bywater neighborhood in New Orleans, LA.

What do you love the most about creating art in your community? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work?
New Orleans is a rich source of inspiration. From its historical neighborhoods, imperfect sidewalks, beautiful music, and especially its extraordinary people. The motivation in my paintings is to capture the essence of a certain moment, or what I call the "spirit" of the city. Whether it is people dancing, playing musical instruments, or any activity that captures my attention and brings a feeling of beauty and joy to life.
Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?
Every piece starts with a rough idea of a certain place. It could be a convenience store, a certain street, a type of architectural detail. Then I visit places that share the same "spirit" and observe what they have in common and what makes them different. I look at people and their various behaviors and styles which make them unique and interesting. I look for emotions and try to create a certain mood in my paintings. Everything is under the microscope. Photography is a must for referencing colors, shapes, lines, etc. Then I proceed to select the background, either a building or natural setting.
Where do you draw inspiration?
Most of my inspiration comes from being outside, observing the various ornaments, proportions, and structures of the buildings, in nature, and even in people. Another source of inspiration are manga books and shoujo anime.
Who are your artistic influences or gurus?
There are three wonderful artists that had a direct impact on my work. They instructed and guided me in the area of painting. Their classes enriched my artwork and influenced me to find my unique artist "soul". Their names are: Auzeklis Ozols, Carol Pebbles, and Pedro Vidal Ovando.
Where can we find you when you are not creating art?
You can find me downtown, especially the French Quarter, Marigny, and Bywater areas. I am often found contemplating life while sitting next to the Mississippi River, under the shade of a big tree in one of the many parks, or on my couch reading manga books.
What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?
My favorite seasons are spring and fall. Favorite time of day is sunset.
What is something people don’t know about you? A fun fact.
When I walk around the neighborhoods, I am always looking out for cute cats and dogs to pet.
